Two music videos for Deux chansons du pêcheur japonais, a cycle by Yüksel Koptagel — one of the first female composers in modern Turkish history — after the Hiroshima poems of Nâzım Hikmet. Performed by mezzo-soprano Ayşe Ece Güneşşen and pianist Mert Solmaz.
Both videos rework footage from my own archive, shot at sunset: silhouettes in the sea, held in extreme slow motion. Slowed down, the gesture becomes lyrical, while visual effects turn the sea to blood.
